Changing of the guard at HERA

IRANZ welcomes Dr Troy Coyle as the new CEO of New Zealand’s Heavy Engineering Research Association(HERA), and says farewell to Dr Wolfgang Scholz who is retiring.

Wolfgang has been the HERA Director for 17 years, and before that was Manager of the New Zealand Welding Centre at HERA. Prior to coming to New Zealand, Wolfgang was a researcher at the Fraunhofer Institute for Production and Automation Technology in Stuttgart. Wolfgang has been a champion both for the Steel Industry in New Zealand and for research partnerships between government and industry.

Troy has experience in innovation, research management and product development, most recently as Head of Innovation and Product Development & Pacific Islands Export Manager at New Zealand Steel.  She has also held numerous positions and roles with the Australian parent company BlueScope Steel and within the Australian university and Government systems.
